الْخَبِيرُ

al-Khabīr

The All-Aware of inner realities

Begin the series ↓

Recited as it sounds in the Qur'an, 67:14.

Heard together with: al-Laṭīf / al-Khabīr

Start with what we know

Then take away everything it needs. What is left is not a bigger version of us. It is the Name.

Episode 1

In us

we cannot see inside a closed thing; we misread faces

But: Surface only

Episode 2

In nature

Sharks' ampullae of Lorenzini detect about 5 billionths of a volt per centimetre (Kalmijn)

Episode 3

At our best

Muon radiography found a void at least 30 m long inside the Great Pyramid without touching it (Morishima et al., Nature 2017)

But: Months of counting; sees density, not meaning

Episode 4

The Break

Take away opening, scanning, inference, the gap between outside and inside.

Not a deeper scan, but knowing the inside of a heart, and its intention.

Read: Q 25:58; 50:16; 49:13

From the tradition: : no instrument reads an intention; the Break is from matter to meaning. Psalm 139:1-4 'You discern my thoughts from afar'

On screen

Pixar had to invent a control room to show what goes on inside us. al-Khabīr needs no window into it.

Where it shows up

In scripture
Q 25:58; 50:16; 67:14. Psalm 139:1-4
The same thread in Jewish and Christian scripture
Moderate. Psalm 139:1-4
In the universe

Living it

Sincerity: the inside matters as much as the outside

Its kind

Capacity: a quality we know a little of: hearing, knowing, seeing.

In the Qur'an: 6:18; 6:103; 67:14
