Shared Stories · Solomon and the ant
Solomon (peace be upon him) is remembered for wisdom that reached the smallest creatures.
In the Torah and the rabbis
“Go to the ant, thou sluggard; consider her ways, and be wise” (Proverbs 6:6, JPS 1917). Solomon “spoke also of beasts, and of fowl, and of creeping things” (1 Kings 5:13 in Hebrew numbering).
In the Gospels and Christian tradition
Jesus (peace be upon him) pointed to Solomon's glory and said even he “was not dressed like one of these” lilies of the field (Matthew 6:29, WEB).
Same and different
In the Bible the ant is a teacher of hard work; in the Qur'an, a small voice that power stops to hear. Children can hear it told from the ant's point of view in Young Explorers.
We never picture any prophet or Mary. Each panel is checked by a reader from that tradition before this page goes public.
