“Among His signs are the creation of the heavens and the earth, and the variety of your languages and your colours. In that are signs for those who know” (30:22, our rendering).
The science. About 7,170 languages are spoken today. Skin colour varies with a handful of gene variants, shaped by sunlight and by humanity's long walk across the world (Crawford et al., Science 2017). In one London street you can hear a hundred of those languages.
Three faiths. Genesis tells of Babel; Acts of Pentecost, when each heard “in our own native language” (Acts 2:8, WEB). Different stories, one wonder at the many tongues.
