The 99 Names of Allah
For Schools · The 99 Names of Allah
KS3 10-minute briefing
Key facts
- Muslims know God through His Names: ar-Raḥmān (the Entirely Merciful), al-Baṣīr (the All-Seeing), an-Nūr (the Light).
- The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) spoke of 99 Names; the famous list is a later compilation, and Muslims hold God's Names don't stop at 99.
- Each Name on our site is a short series: start with what we know (an eye, a telescope), take away its limits.
How do we know?
Activity: choose one Name, find it in the Qur'an on quran.com, and list what the human version of that quality needs.
Take care
Don't present the Names as separate gods or parts of God.
