Who is Allah?

About

Who we are,
how we work

whoisallah.org.uk is for anyone who has wondered who Muslims mean when they say Allah, and how Jews and Christians speak of the same God of Abraham. It is made in Britain by Pixeleyed Pictures Ltd.

Our story

It began with a short film. In Error in Terror, a young man about to bomb a London market stops, remembers the Qur'an, and time rewinds. Pixeleyed took the film around the UK to screenings followed by open conversation, often in hostile rooms, to separate Islam's teaching from terrorism and to turn confrontations into conversations.

Then came COVID. Through the lockdowns the Pixeleyed team volunteered on the frontline, delivering food and protective equipment, including to Jewish care homes, and filmed the unity they saw. Afterwards the work was renamed the Uniting Communities Initiative, taking on anti-Muslim hatred and antisemitism together.

whoisallah.org.uk is the next chapter: one word, explained with care, for everyone. [Riz to confirm the wording and add the films and coverage we can link to.]

Our promises

Each faith in its own words. Jewish, Christian and Muslim beliefs are described from their own sources, and read by people from those faiths.

Wonder, not proof. Science shows how far creation goes. We never claim a verse “predicted” it.

We, not you. Every faith looks at itself first.

Every messenger honoured alike. “Peace be upon him” for the Prophet Muhammad, Moses, Jesus and every prophet; “peace be upon her” for Mary.

No picture of God, and no image of any prophet or of Mary.

Human voices and human hands. Recitation and calligraphy are by people.

Sources on every page. Qur'an references open on quran.com; Bible texts are public-domain translations (JPS 1917, World English Bible).

Other people's work

We point to the best films, documentaries, channels and artists we can find, and send you to them to watch. Before this site goes public we are asking each of them for permission to show their artwork and trailers. Anything we can't use, we'll replace with our own.

Privacy

No sign-up, no comments, no advertising trackers. Videos from other sites only load when you press play. The children's pages store nothing at all.
